DOINK! “Uhhhhh….” “Good one, Kaoru. Look what you did to Kenshin this time.”

“Me!? You’re the one who ducked and made me miss you with that pot, Sano!” she replied.

“When will they ever learn?” sighed Yahiko. That was the fourth time that Kenshin wound up with a lump on his head from one of Sanosuke and Kaoru’s fights.

“Maybe if you weren’t so annoying and actually did something to help out around here, Sanosuke, I would never feel like throwing anything at you,” said Kaoru.

“And maybe if you realized that I-

“Look!” yelled Kenshin, his eyes almost swollen shut. Coming towards them was a young man that was bruised, bleeding, and limping along. He passed out right in front of them. When he came to, the young man saw four faces staring intently at him.

“Who are you?” asked Kaoru. “I am Masaharu of the Oni Waban group in Osaka,” he replied.

“Who did this to you?” asked Yahiko. “It was a man named Kashu, Ryu Kashu,” he said.

“Kashu…” said Sanosuke. Then Masaharu started to tell his story.

“We of the Oni Waban group found out about a plan made by Kashu to murder every government official in Japan, starting in Osaka. But every time he tried to carry out his plan, we were there to stop his men. When Kashu found out who was doing this, he began to come after us.

“He has nearly wiped us out, and there is nothing we can do. He has his men attack us individually, when we least expect it. Our leader, Yoko, sent me to find a man named Kenshin Himura and ask him to help us. On the way here to Tokyo, Kashu’s men attacked me. This was the closest place to the spot where I was attacked. I must find this Kenshin. If you know of him…”

“Masaharu? Masaharu!” yelled Kenshin. “He’ll be alright. He’s just lost consciousness again,” said Sanosuke. Kenshin got up and headed outside.

“Where are you going?” asked Kaoru.

“To Osaka,” he said. “I must go and help the Oni Waban group, that I must.”

“What!? You can’t!” said Sanosuke. “I’ve heard of this Kashu guy. He’s ruthless. When he fixes his mind on something, he gets it. And he’ll kill anyone who gets in his way. Masaharu was lucky to survive.”

“I’m going anyway,” said Kenshin.

“No Kenshin, I won’t let you,” said Sano.

“You don’t understand! I must go. The leader of the Oni Waban group, this Yoko he spoke of……is my sister.”
