Posts: 11 Score: 23 Rank: 47 | I've only seen the dubbed version of this to tell yuo the truth. I get the feeling the sub is WAY better. I'll explain later.
.hack//sign is about this popular on-line roleplaying game, where you can actually BE THERE. As in, go through your computer to a place called "the world". But this is a dangerous RP game. You can litterally feel any pain your RP character is feeling. Your past effects the game too, so you're not entirely a different person. You communicate with other players through e-mail, and you can teleport to different areas in the world. Just think of it as a sci-fi/fantasy version of Dungeons & Dragons.
You can, of course, go back home on Earth. Except for one player named Tsukasa (sp?), the main star of .hack//sign. Tsukasa (my fav out of all the characters) is pursued by other players because of his unbelievable abilities and is able to summon a Guradian to protect himself. The only person who really seems to understand him is a young girl player named Subaru, a commander of the world's guards, the Crimson Knights.
But here's why I think the Japanese version is probably better: the voiceacting. The voiceacting in .hack//sign is unbearable to listen to. Subaru's voiceactor puts hardly any emotion into what she's saying. Plus, she's so quiet you can barely hear a word she's saying! I got tired of hearing Mimiru's whiny valleygirl voice (Mimiru is another character in .hack//sign) and the dialogue in it is a mess.
The animation is okay... but you'd expect more from such a great storyline. The voiceacting was the real thing that ruined it. So see the sub, skip the dub. |

Posts: Score: Rank: | .hack//SIGN is an amazing show. It's about a young wave master named Tsukasa. Tsukasa is trapped in "The World" which is a virtual realality game on the Internet. He can't seem to log out. He seems to have angered the Crimson Knights who are like the police in "The World". Once more, what's unbelivable strange is he not sure he wants to leave. Their is this cat character he runs into and that's who the Crimson Knights are after. They only want to know about it at first.
They try to stop Tsukasa mobility in the world by fale. But who's the real victum? Tsukasa discovers this Monster and he says it's his GUARDIAN!?!?! He lets it fight his battles in "The World". It is a quiet interesting show. Watch it Saturdays on CartoonNetwork 12:00am Eastern/Pacific Time. | |
