The main idea of the anime is interesting because it suggests by sheer mental will you can control these tiny robotic androids called angels. I llike how they incoperated break through research in medical science in a children's game. The fact that these players can make their angels move around on the layer any way they want; only limited by their imaginations is exciting. The unique battle styles, intricate designs, and strategic maneveurs make it one of the most non-violent fighting anime you could see. Sportsmanship and friendly atmosphere make the game seem less competitive and more easy going then other anime (i.e. Tehnjo Tenge). It is suitable for all ages because of the scientific aspect it can consume older audiences and has a positive feedback from most younger viewers.

Okay, I just have to say one thing. The drawings in Angelic Layer are HORRIBLE (except for the drawings of the angels), when usually in Clamp manga comics, the drawings are BEAUTIFULLY-DETAILED. This definetly isn't as superb as Card Captor Sakura and Rayearth, but its ok. The story doesn't have a thorough plot. It tells the story of a Sakura-like girl named Misaki who sees two toy robots (called angels) fighting, and then want one. With the help of a seriously mad, desturbed, insane scientist named 'Icchan' (that's what he wants to be called), Misaki learns how to battle with her angel. If she wins, she'll automatically get points on her angel card and can use those points to buy things for her angel, Hikaru. The charcaters definetly aren't as likable as the ones in the other manga books by Clamp, and all those nicknames can really confuse you... But it's an okay comic for now. I mean, if I could give it a grade, I'd give it a B-.
