Posts: 0 Score: 1 Rank: 971 | The last few years i have been watching a lot of Hayoa Miyazaki movies like Porco Rosso, Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbour Totoro and they are great and remain some of my favourite anime. I just wanted to wright this review on Dragonball Z because after watching just over 100 episodes (from the start) i am totally blown away by how epic and powerful the whole thing is. I needed this kind of thing after watching the gently paced and mega friendly movies above.
Dragonball Z has so much going for it. The characters are brilliant and numerous and they are all used perfectly. The villains are super evil, check out frieza in his final form, and the story is unbelievably epic (especially if you have watched all of dragonball, which i recently have). The most noticable element of Dragonball Z, though, are the battles. Now i'm watching the original jap version and i've never seen anything like it, in a good way. I love the way the big battles last 30 episodes and the OTT fighting is genius. I don't know why people slag them of. This is animation! Actors can't do this sort of stuff so why not take advantage. It's so exhilararating. Like in the saiyan saga when Vegeta (a terrific character) is hit by the Ki bomb and sent flying into into oblivion, only to fall back down to earth, completely battered and angered, then launching a massive energy blast in all directions, utterly destroying the surrounding area. Thats just one of my favourite moments so far. Since ive only seen a third of Dragonball Z, im not going to give this a strict rating. Anime fans who have'nt seen it should definetly do so, and people who have'nt seen the jap version should watch it. I've seen a few of the dubbed and cut versions on sky and they don't capture the same intensity of the original. The ending theme of the original is really good, too. Mind you, who am i to talk, i've only just started watching it and i can't wait to continue. Long live Dragonball...... | Contributions: Reviews: 1 |

Posts: 12 Score: 2 Rank: 458 | | Dragonball Z has been my favourite anime show for a long long time since 2000 even though I am a girl, it's still beloved by everyone from kids to grown ups even after nearly ten years since it became an anime in 1995, it's a show full of everything you want from any anime, like comedy, action, mystery, adventure etc. Dozens of movies and millions of DVDs, games and more are created because of the popularity of the show, even after nearly ten years, DBZ movies are still going. It's really a fantastic anime and I promise you that there are no anime can beat Dragonball Z whatever on it's story, characters, length, movies etc. If you never seen this anime, you better watch it rigth now, because it's too excellent to be missed out. | Contributions: Reviews: 1 |

Many people will criticize it for being too wordy, drawn out, and sometimes boring, and it can be. However, the real draw to the show is the explosive fights, the insane power levels, and the memorable characters. A show this old still wildly popular years after it was over and done with in Japan proves that it is a legendary anime. It has action, some plot, humor, more so in the Japanese version, and it lends itself to video games, art, and other media. Truly one of the greatest anime series of all time, if not at least one of the most popular and long lasting. | Contributions: Reviews: 1 |

No voice actors can take away from Goku's goofy big-hearted smile, and both actors for the crafty Vegeta have done him equal compliment in different ways.
Loyalty to the original talents which formed the series in Japan stand in the way of people enjoying the American version. But then, many things can turn fickle watchers away from this jewel. Indeed, the recycled cells will upset any seasoned anime viewer, but should not upset those that are genuinely allowing themselves to be swept away in the fabulous characters and story. Out of ten stars, the world has already given DBZ a hearty eleven. | Contributions: Reviews: 1 |

Posts: 11 Score: 23 Rank: 43 | | I wouldn't consider this the GREATEST anime ever. I mean for an anime to be the GREATEST, you need the following things: beautiful animation, compelling plot, lovable characters, and excellent voice acting. Now, I am NOT saying DBZ doesn't have any of this. I think the voice acting has great use of expression in it, the plot steadily thickens, and the characters are original. But the animation isn't terrific. I kind of get sick of how they stand face-to-face telling eachother how they'll beat eachother, and such for a whole episode. Not to mention the constant screaming. I personally prefer DragonBall. Not too much fighting, lighter plot (don't get me wrong, I LOVE dark violent plots), and I found the characters more likable (maybe because they're younger??) But it's still a decent anime. |

Posts: 0 Score: 1 Rank: 519 | Although it doesnt feel like a proper anime Dragonball Z has to be the greatest, bestest show around, i mean i love all anime but Dbz is the only anime i have seen from the start and it is so fun and exciting to watch it is no wonder its the most popular anime around.
Dbz is in short is a constant fight to save the earth and the universe from pure evil, thus ending in some REALLY COOL fights, if you like fighting and action this is for you, although the fights are surreal and super fast. in addition to melee attacks our characters can use ki blasts which can be fired at a oponent.
The story changes throughout it which is kind of annoying, I liked it when freiza was the main bad guy and it seemed like forever till Goku-main character- got a shot at him, it was really cool because no one thought he had no chance of winning.Goku may live on earth but he is a human type alien called a saiyan who are very powerfull, and with enough power and rage they can turn in to "super saiyans" which are extreamly powerful.
But Amoungst all the action there is humour and stuff like that.
A unique feature about it is that the characters actually grow, change hair styles, get married, have kids, die and so on. | Contributions: Reviews: 1 |

Posts: Score: Rank: | | Ah yes, DragonballZ. A very good anime show. At first, I thought that DBZ was a crappy show. Why, because I had seen the Freiza Saga. Mostly because the Freiza Saga Sucked. Then I saw Cooler's Revenge. That's what grabbed my attention. Cooler was a remarkable foe. He was really cool. Then came the Android Saga. That was O.K, but not really good. Then came the Cell Saga. This is, in my opinion, the best saga to hit DBZ. There was a mini saga between the Android Saga and The Cell Saga, The Super Saya-jin 2 Saga. It kinda looks like when Goku fights with Cell, he looks like a Super Saya-jin 2. Then came The Majin Buu Saga. This was an O.K saga. Not crappy at all. This is the Saga were Super Saya-jin 3 is introduced. Goku turns Super Saya-jin 3. And also, when Vegeta gets taken over with Majin, he becomes Super Saya-jin 2. Well, thats about it. Oh, my bad, I skipped the Sayin Saga. It is about Goku's brother and the last couple of Sayins to live after Freiza destroyed the Planet called Vegeta. Vegeta's father was the ruler of the Sayins. When Goku's brother called Raditz, came to earth he reminded him that both of them were evil and stuff. Goku said that he would never become evil. So Raditz steals Gohan(Goku's son) and tells Goku to kill 100 people or he would kill Gohan. He does not do so. He gets Piccolo's help to destroy Raditz. Piccolo had to kill them both. Raditz told them about two stronger sayins that would come to earth and destroy them all. They were Nappa and Vegeta(the one we know). Bla Bla Bla, Vegeta kills Nappa for fun and tries to do the same with Goku, but fails. After the battle, Vegeta turns good, and thats the Sayin Saga. I went into detail on this one 'cause it was supposed to be the first saga but I forgot about it. | |
