Posts: 0 Score: 1 Rank: 1053 | Two boys on an adventure to regain what they have lost,in order to fulfill their dream. Edward Elric has lost is left arm and right leg and has replaced it with metal limbs called "automail". Alphonse Elric, Edward's younger brother by a year, has unfortanatly lost his whole body. Edward attached Al's soul to the armor after an attempt to bring their mother back with alchemy.
Now after 5 years they are still searching for their dream, the Philosepher stone. The Philosepher stone can help Ed and Al get there bodies back to normal,if only they could get a grip on it.
Earlier Ed and Al were decided to be part of the military, in order to gain more knowledge of the Philosepher stone. They fight through outrageous, almost deathly battles to get what they want. After almost a year Edward gains the name 'Fullmetal Alchemist' by the head of the military, The Fuhr.Yet, what they don't know is he is more dangerous than by the military.
Humonculi, reincarnations of loved ones left behind by their creators. They only have one thing on their mind, REVENGE. Revenge on their creator. Take Envy for instance you never know if it's a he or a she. They call Envy an IT. Envy can shape shift into anyone. Never turn your back on Envy, even after you've slit its throat.
Ed's short temper gets him into a lot of trouble, including into a fight with one of the state alchemist himself, the 'Flame Alchemist'.
Fullmetal Alchemist has its moments. Its funny moments, sad moments(and they mean sad),and some bloody moments. But after everything Ed and Al went through to get this far to find it, is IT really worth it. Worth all the pain, the lifes hurt, the friends deaths? Well, is it? | Contributions: Reviews: 1 |

Posts: 4 Score: 33 Rank: 29 | This anime contains four amazing components to make it great.
First is drama, from the first episode it feels heavy with drama, but not in a cheesy soap opera way. It makes you want to see the next episode.
Second is action. Each episode has a fight or chase in it, which helps to keep the plot moving. The plot doesn't need it to stand up to par though, it is amazing!
Third is science/science fiction. Alchemy is used as almost a magical ability, but with the knowledge that everything must be done with equal exchange. This didn't stop Edward and Alfonse Elric from trying to resurrect their mother from the dead, at the cost of Al's body and Ed's arm and leg.
The final one is the constant conspiracy taking place within the very government set in place by the alchemists. It isn't apparent in the first few episodes, but as more shady characters are introduced, it becomes more obvious that some people are not who they seem to be.
All in all this is a terrific anime for all kinds of anime/manga fans. |

Posts: 0 Score: 36 Rank: 22 | In this world, there exists people with special abilities to manipulate objects and transform one object into another. These people are known as alchemists. This process does come with a cost though, the basic law of alchemy states that to gain something you have to sacrifice something of the same value.
The main character is the famous alchemist Edward Elric - also known as the Fullmetal Alchemist - who almost lost his little brother, Alphonse, in an accident. Edward managed to contain his brother's soul in a large suit of armor. While he did manage to save his brother's life, he had to pay a great price himself.
To get back what they've lost, the brothers embark on a journey to find the Philosophers Stone that is said to amplify the powers of an alchemist enormously.

Posts: 0 Score: 1 Rank: 930 | This series is based around the use of Alchemy which on a basic level involves changing one thing into another using the rule of equvilent trade. The rule of equivilent trade states that to create something, something of the equal must be presented. Both Edward and Alphonse Elric have studied the art of alchemy from a young age. When their mother dies both decide to try to revive her using alchemy, they gather the ingredients that a human body consists of and attempt the transmutation (the act of using alchemy to transform something). Even though they know that to revive a human is forbidden by the strictest laws. During the transmutation they find out why it is forbidden, Ed loses his left arm and right leg. This, however, is only minor as to what Alphonse has to give up. He is made to give up his entire body and in a fit of despiration Ed seals Al's soul in a suite of armor. Their mother's body is mutated into a monster and in second fit of despirtation Ed silences it.
After this the boys go on a jouney to find the Philophers Stone which allows the user to create something without something of equal value. They wish to use this to place themselves back in their normal bodies and revive their mother. On this journey they come accross many strange and interesting people, such as homunculus who are artificial humans.
Any anime fan will enjoy this series and the in-depth story line it holds, with twist around ever corner | Contributions: Reviews: 1 |

Posts: 0 Score: 1 Rank: 813 | Describing Full Metal Alchemist the word enthralling comes to mind, from the first episode anyone who is akin to anime will realize just from looking at the artwork that this is a very well made anime series. The storyline, characters, and multiple plots carry with substance the surreal world created by this beautiful rendition. Yet do not be fooled, the series has some grotesque elements but not overly so, just enough to create impact.
In essence the main characters Edward and Alphonse Elric are on a quest to regain what they have lost and the series revolves around their path. The Elric brothers can use Renkinjutsu or Alchemy to manipulate the form of objects or even create them, with the limitation of the principle of equivalent trade. Meaning that something of equal value must be presented to transmute an object, something containing equal mass and elements is needed, or is it?
The series has fifty one episodes, the plot is intricate but not extremely complicated. Secrets are revealed with time and when things seem to be panning out new elements arise. Visually intriguing one thing stood out, it takes two or three episodes to engage the appeal of Alphonse in that suit of weirdly crafted armor. One gets accustomed to it quickly, as for Edward when you watch the series you will see why he is the Full Metal Alchemist. I highly recommend Full Metal Alchemist as a must see for anime fans.
If I am not mistaken Full Metal Alchemist should be showing on Cartoon Network, near or on November 2004. It is not available at this time on DVD in the U.S. and probably won’t be until the episodes run on tv.
