Kiddy Grade... To be honest, my first reaction to the anime was... "Great, another lame fanservice anime..." The initial episodes were slow, and seemed to confirm my initial perception of the anime. Also, the fact that the seiyuus for the two main characters, Lumiere and Eclair were, seemingly, really bad choices. They were too old to pass off as young girls, and especially so for Lumiere.

However, these don't do justice to the anime, as the later consecutive episodes turn out to carry much more content than I'd had originally bargained for. The story, once it got to the dramatic part, really started going, and the characters became more than superficially pretty looking bishoujos. I gave it a high rating for the real story, and music, which was quite cool. As well as the mechas, which seems to be a trademark of Gonzo animes. :)

Kiddy Grade...Hmm. Sounds really wrong, doesn't it? They wanted us to think this was some really awful hentai show or something, so they lose a point just for the title alone.

This anime seemed to take forever to watch in the beginning. The first seven or so episodes are set-up. If you are falling asleep watching this in the beginning, no one would be suprised. However around episode 8 the story takes dramatic turns and you will find yourself getting drawn in. By the thirteenth episode you won't be able to stop.

Eclair and Lumierre are the GOTT's top ES members with power surpasing everyone else in the organization. Eclair is sixteen with a strange "Lipstick Whip" and Lumierre is ten with the ability to take over any computer system. The little ten year old also has an extreme fetish for aged wine.

This anime will shock and grab you but only if you are a patient enough person and can make yourself last through the first seven episodes. The only reason this anime is rated an eight is because of that reason.

This is also very interesting because of what happens to the characters and story line around episode 18 or so. Happy Day!
