Posts: 0 Score: 1 Rank: 874 | Love Hina is a 25-episode TV series based on the manga by Ken Akamatsu. Now the first thing that grabbed my attention about Love Hina was the ultra-cute and ultra-perky opening sequence and song "Sakurasaku" (sung by no less than anime seiyuu-dom's darling, Megumi Hayashibara). Yet even so, getting addicted to Love Hina was the last thing I expected. I won't beat around the bush here. I love, as in positively adore, this series! Something hilarious erupts almost every episode, which in turn would have me laughing my butt off (at the risk of seeming like a total lunatic) in front of the TV. It's that funny.
The humor and hijinks start as soon as Keitaro takes on the job of managing Hinata Sou. Not only does Keitaro have to keep the place nice and orderly, he has to contend with the varying temperaments of his female tenants as well. Then there's the Tokyo U exams and the possibility that one of the girls being his elusive childhood sweetheart... Keitaro's life promises to be a lot more exciting in the days to come.
The character designs are superb. Not only do they look great, they are well thought of as well -- each having his/her own corresponding personal background and place in the story. Each one is quirky in his/her own way, and they are constantly getting themselves into the wackiest situations. There is never a dull moment at the Hinata Sou. In fact, one of the most remarkable things about Love Hina is how the plot continues to fall into place episode by episode, despite all the comedy that ensues. The ending is open-ended though, but who Keitaro is eventually going to end up with is confirmed in the Love Hina Christmas Special.
The art and animation are nothing short of spectacular -- very crisp, clear, and colorful. I heard that Love Hina's animation is fully digital, and that computers were used all throughout (which will probably explain why there isn't a single Love Hina production cel anywhere on the net). I was actually surprised by that bit of info because the whole series doesn't really sport a computer-generated look. The Japanese voices are extremely well-cast. Everyone sounds good, and the voices fit the characters perfectly.
Love Hina is easily one of the best romantic comedies around. Highly recommended. |

Posts: 0 Score: 5 Rank: 187 | Love Hina is about an unpopular boy named Keitaro who, in his childhood, made a promise to a little girl that he'd get into the college Tokyo University with her because it's said that if a boy and girl who are friends get into Tokyo U together, they'll live happily ever after. The only problem is, the girl moved away and Keitaro forgot her name.
Keitaro never did well in school. His grades constantly dropped lower and lower, he was an unpopular guy who nobody liked, and he always failed the Tokyo U enterance exams. After failing it for the second time, his parents kicked him out of the house and Keitaro went to go look for a new place to live.
Keitaro went to his Grandmother's hotel to go and stay, but while taking a relaxing bath in the hot spring a young girl named Naru comes in the same bath with him, not knowing that Keitaro was a boy. When Naru found out, she became furious at Keitaro and never forgave him.
It turns out that Keitaro's grandmother's hotel is a girl's dorm, and she wanted to put Keitaro in charge as the landlord. Keitaro excepts the oppurtunity-- and while he's at it, he can study with Naru, who's also trying to get into Tokyo U but unlike Keitaro, she's an excellent student and suprisingly, Keitaro becomes a better student because of her...
Love Hina can be very funny at times, but some of the humor becomes a cliche after a while. Keitaro's perverted accidents can become very old and annoying after a while, and it seems like Love Hina is TRYING to be funny.
The animation isn't top-notch, but it's pretty to look at and the characters look almost exactly like what they looked like in the manga. No wacky hair colors or anything, thankfully.
Overall, Love Hina is a pretty fun anime to watch. Not hilarious, but funny. | Contributions: Reviews: 5 |

Posts: 0 Score: 5 Rank: 186 | Keitaro is living in a all girl dorm...but he isn't just an ordinary board, he's the manager!
Keitaro has failed the Tokyo U test too many times and he's still determined to become a student. The reason is he made a promise to the one he loved when he was young that they would meet up there when they were older. The thing is he can't remember mush of her face or her name!
Naru, a board living at the Hinatas appartment, is another person determined to go to Tokyo U. Violent to Keitaro they pretty much make a cute couple...only if keitaro wasn't suck an idiot. :)
Love Hina is a great anime, especialy cause of Kentaro, heh, but he isn't mentioned much in it.
I rate this an 8 :o
