Posts: 1 Score: 2 Rank: 450 | This series is similar to Neon Genesis Evangelion, in how serious and heavily dramatic it is and the giant, kick ass robots.
The main character is yanked out of his mundane city Tokyo and ends up piloting a robot called Raxaphon(don't worry, not shouting cheesy comands etc) to escape with his rescuer.
He leaves Tokyo and through doing so finds out he'd been lied to half his life and that his mother is an alien and possibly half of Tokyo and that the outside world and population are all still there contrary to what they'd been told (No one tried to leave the country as they thought apocalypse had happened and they were pretty much all that was left). Japan is enclosed in a large forceshield thing called the Jupiter effect (created by the aliens), which can only be penetrated with the right technology and by the aliens and the raaxephon, it is also running on different time as the rest of the world. The main character practically hasn't aged since his rescuer(female) last seen him, but though the time lapse she has. Anyway the characters depth gets better as it goes, you find out more about the aliens, the raxephon and how the two main character tie in together (the romantic part of the series).
It is a hard series to follow plot wise, but well worth staying all the way for, I found it easier to follow than Evangelion (after ep 18, Eva goes very philosophically).
It has the right amount of drama, comedy, plenty of action, sci - fi, and a surprising amount of romance. |
