Rank: 421 | | Rurouni Kenshin is a show about a man named Kenshin Himura, who helped the government during the Meiji revolution. He earned his infamy as "Hitokiri Battousai" at a young age. After the death of a special loved one, he gave up his days as an active samurai, thought the legend of the battousai remained. He always carried a "sakabatou" or "reverse blade sword" so that he could never kill, but protect and live up to his oath to never kill again. During his ten years as a "vagabond" or "wanderer", he encouters a young, energetic, seventeen-year-old, Kaoru Kamiya. After helping her defeat the "Battousai" who was defaming her school, she invites him to stay, and so he does. The story pretty much picks up off there into an amazing story of love, hatred, swords, death, and many more. It's the story of an ex-killer - the exploration of the battousai's dark side, and the discovery of his true form. |
