This series comes highly recommended - there's little more that to be said without attributing to the primary fault in this series - people get hyped up and then are let down, even though this is one of the best series ever made.
Advice to all anime fans: See this now, bring a box of tissues, and take everything POETICALLY in stride, not literally. They say sorry, yes their characters seem to have an age difference, but it represents something in terms of the series.
Animation: Slight dislike at first, but it attributes to a key part of the series - the innocence it becomes a key part of the series.
Sound: Bought the soundtrack - the ending for this viewer was a fundamental part in the experience, embodying much of the emotion of the series and seeming to change in meaning every time its heard.
Characters: Their differences are great (age, etc) but it represents the aspects of their personality and the irony that the weakest, dumbest link is the one of which humanity depends as its savior.
Enjoyment: Saying "I enjoyed it" is one way to describe it, but this should be a fundamental series that all anime fans should watch, without question.
