The previous persons' review summed up the plot very well.
This series is hilarious and the comedy is mainly on the light, clean side (I.E. Doesn't have tonnes of fan service weaved into the shots).
I would definately recommend it to those that like a good adventure series that's full of gags, magic, action, deranged villains, but with enough plot changes to not make it as predictable as the comedy it has.

I watch the spanish dubbed one, so it's a little different. Reena (Lina) Inverse is a short, spunky witch who is greedy, eats too much, and gets what she wants by destroying things. A sword-master named Gaudi, who is tall, long blonde, and blue-eyed travels with Lina... trying to get her not to blow up stuff. In Slayers, more characters come in, such as Celgadi, Amelia, and Amelia's father. Slayers TRY features Lina and Gaudi (of course), Celgadi, Amelia, and a friend of Lina who is crsed and can turns into a dragon in some episode. There is of course Cellos who is a purple haired Demon that pops in every now and then, and Lina's sister who is trying to kill her. Slayers is an awsome anime and manga, and I highly reccomend it to anyone who likes action, really ugly, weird, and evil villans, and a bit of romance, although that's only in the last episodes and Lina almost kills Gaudi when she wakes up in his arms and thinks he abused her. The music is awsome, the story is top-notch, and graphics are... wow. Defenately one of my favorite animes of all time... there's something very addicting about Slayers.
