Okay, I LOVE the Tsubasa Chronicles Manga. It's one of the best I've ever read, in the few I have, and the only one I'd call a masterpiece. So, when I saw the anime, I was disappointed. The anime has some beautiful moments, and amazing music, but the pace is so slow! The manga has a lot of action, and most of it was cut out or toned down. Scene order was changed, which I partly understand, but in this case it just confused things and made the characters harder to relate to. The scenes are tirelessly dragged out to lengths that make no sense. They don't help build tension, they put us to sleep! And the music, though beautiful, was out of place. There would be a rock song playing while everybody was asleep, or a slow, lullaby-like song in the middle of a fight. That doesn't matter as much as the fact that it just didn't work. Sometimes these techniques can help an anime, but in this case, it just hurt it. Also, the voices were bland, and not different at all. Fai was japanese guy no. 1, kurogane was japanese guy no. 2, and on and on. They didn't sound unique(except for Mokona modoki.) All in all, this could've been done much better, and WATCH THE ENGLISH VERSION. FUNImation did a great job with the mess it was and turned it into something not completely mediocre. (I'm not usually this rough, but I really love this series, and to have the ORIGINAL be so bad really shook me.)
