Studio Trigger, the studio behind Gurren Lagann and Kill La Kill, announces 3 new series at Anime Expo 2017!

Studio Trigger , the studio behind Kill La Kill, announced on Twitter last week that they will reveal multiple new titles during their panel at Anime Expo 2017. And now, that day has come!

The panel started with “Trigger Money” being shot into the crowd from money guns by the creative staff as they run down the aisles. This was followed by a short clip of Inferno Cop, the main character of the 2012 series with the same name, featuring Donald Trump.

Trigger also announced 3 brand new series, in a world first announcement!

Darling in the Franxx will be a new Sci-Fi series, and Trigger is partnering with studio A-1 Pictures for the project. Trigger has also stated that fans will be shocked with the staff announcements they will make on July 5th. A-1 Pictures’ Hiroyuki Shimizu, producer of Magi and Black Butler, is also involved with the project.

Super Samurai Slayers Squad Gridman will be an original story, instead of a retelling of the 1993 live-action series Denkō Chōjin Gridman, complete with new characters. Akira Amemiya (director of Inferno Cop), is signed on to be the director, and the series will be a collabrotaion with Tsuburaya Productions.

Promare will be a Trigger x XFLAG original series, with Trigger describing the series as ‘…will be like Gurren Lagann x Kill La Kill.’. Hiroyuki Imaishi, director of Gurenn Lagann, will direct the series, with the story by Kazuki Nakashima. They also mentioned that the new series main protagonist will be male, and from the look of the key visual, we are getting a serious robot vibe!

We really can’t wait to check out these new and upcoming series! Which one are you excited to check out?
